Can you 3D print a broken car clip, cover or trim part?
Discontinued or hard-to-find plastic parts can often be 3D printed. What to send us, how we make it fit, and the parts we will not print.
Often, yes
Clips, covers, caps, holders, bezels and small trim pieces are good candidates, especially for older cars like the Nissan Patrol Y60 where the dealer no longer stocks them. A printed part can also be made stronger than the original where it keeps breaking.
What to send
Send clear photos of the part from a few sides with a ruler or tape measure next to it, the broken pieces if you still have them, and the car's make, model and year. A part number helps if you can find it. If you already have an STL or STEP file, attach it to the custom order form.
How we make it fit
We measure, model the part, and print it in a material that suits where it goes, usually ASA for anything that sees heat or sun. For parts where the fit is critical we may print a quick test piece first so you can check it before the final print.
What we will not print
We do not print parts that keep you safe on the road: anything to do with brakes, steering, suspension mounts, seat belts or airbags. Those should always be genuine or certified parts.
